Try explore "\\hostname"

In your explorer address box, type "\\yourhostname", where yourhostname can be found under My Computer | Properties | Computer Name | Change.

I am sure you failed pinging the above host name, not the ip address right?

If the other PC is running Win98, they has to have the same network group.
