Prompt? Boot the WinXP setup CD? Not likely. The best you can get WinXP setup CD is the recovery console.

The same question I asked before: Are you sure you booted from CD-ROM?
I don't think so! How can you check "yes" under Command Prompt? With your mouse? That must've been a GUI there.

You think you booted from CD-ROM but you just didn't.

Change boot sequence in BIOS setup and reboot. If you see WinXP splash screen, it fails again.
