If C: and D: are two different drives. The data files you saved on D: can be reserved.
If they are on the same physicial drive, re-move the primary partition of C: need to remove the extension paratition on D:. You need to save all your data to another disk or CDs.
Prefer to find a bootable CD of 98 for installation and start booting from CD.
