Strongly suggest Tablet PC.

Once you get a hang of it, you would really love the hand writing and OneNote (new application in Office 2003). It's about $2500 range.

Then a Laser printer with double side printing is about $600 range.

And I will strongly suggest you buying a copy of "Mind Manager" X5 Pro from www.mindjet.com. It's the best tool for brainstorm, orgnaization, outliner, and task management. There is a 21 day trial, but would be about $300 to buy. This tools along can give you advantage over other students or colleague.
