now, what happens when joining a domain:

1. a machine account is created in the domain. the machine is now a domain member.
effects: the machine's shared resources are avaible to other domain machines, ＡＮＤ　ＯＴＨＥＲ　ＤＯＭＡＩＮ　ＲＥＳＯＵＲＣＥＳ　ＡＥＲ　ＡＶＡＩＬＡＢＬＥ　ＴＯ　ＴＨＩＳ　ＭＡＣＨＩＮＥ．

2. domain group "domain user" becomes member of local group "users".
effects: any domain user account can log on interactively at this machine to the domain. inherits all privileges of the local group "users" on this machine.

3. domain group "domain admin" becomes member of local group "administrators".
effects: the domain admin members (usually the people with job title sysadmin, network admin, IT admin etc are domain admins) can do whatever they want at the machine, just like local administrators. They do not need to physically visit this machine. They can see what ever you store on the disk.
