when the program is running, right click on the system tray icon and choose open. Tools -> Options -> Preferences -> Uncheck Run this program when window starts.
Rename msmsgs.exe only if you dont want it to activate when outlook express starts.
The Messenger service in the service panel is for deliver messages using net send command. This has nothing to do with the ms messenger.
