I usually lower the Vcore a little bit.

But not too much to make it unstable.

The result is that the fan is not turned on too often.

Power (dynamic power) is porpotional to voltage square.

In another laptop, I changed the cpu thermal pad (thermal conductivity around 3) to a piece a copper shim (thermal conductivity around 385). When it had the thermal pad, the fan was turned on in 10-15 minutes after the laptop was on. After I changed to copper shim, the fan usually turns on after 50 minutes, sometimes never turns on (when I read book).
