Page Plus Cellular questions

I thought I lost my phone two months ago but found it today. Also found out due to long time no activity, the phone number was expired. I chatted with PPC, they told me they can only assign me a new phone, but won't be able to retrieve the old number. Is there a way around to get my old number back? thanks
