Auto Gordian Knot can't convert from DVD directly.
You need to rip the DVD into HDD 1st (DVD shrink will do). (tell me if I am wrong. :=)

DVDx DOSE covert DVD direct into avi file.

I usual use Auto Gordian Knot: It has 'Auto shut down after finish'. So I just let it running overnight and shut down itself.

I usual use xvid format: play xvid on PC, it's as good as original DVD.

I havn't tried DVIX yet.
