Not entirely true.
SDK for Apple OS X is free or almost free, and is more user friendly. Documentation is rich and open as well. In my opnion programming at application level on OS X is easier than on open platform Linux. OS X is more open source compatible than Windows too.
What not open is Apple's censorship on Apps. But to be fair, it also helps preventing malicious software from doing bad things on your computer.
Geeks must dislike Apple computers for other reasons.
