You might need to change your HD setting in BIOS. Otherwise, you can't install XP with 係統安裝光盤. This was my experience w/ a Toshiba laptop a couple of years ago. The laptop came with Vista but my relative in China wanted XP on it. I don't remember the exact HD setting in BIOS as I don't have the laptop with me.
Certainly you need to have XP drivers for your laptop before preceeding the XP installation. It took me a while to find XP drivers from Toshiba Europe site that time. Toshiba USA site only had Vista drivers but not XP drivers at the time.
I also suggest you to use another HD to test XP installation. Otherwise you might end up with a non-working system if things turn out not as expected.
I have never used built-in 隱藏分區 for 恢複係統. In theory, 1.46G is probably sufficient for system recover as it's compressed. I recall the ghost image for my XP system partition in earlier days was less than 2G. I don't think you have to get rid of 隱藏分區 for XP installation. The problem is more likely BIOS setting for HD.
