As I understand, spa 3102 has one fxo port to connect a regular phone set and one fxs port to connect a pstn line from the wall. 3102 is called a voip gateway because it can bridge the two ports from one to another. within the each port, it does support at least two channels means you can use callwaiting, 3way calling.most people don't really need 3102. a regular linksys pap2 or even spa1001 is plenty.
