My laptop is vista (Sony vaio VGN-NR220E), painfully slow, specs are listed here: http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/sony-vaio-vgn-nr220e/4507-3121_7-32876313.html.
I finally decided to install Win 7 to replace vista. I looked up the requirements. Here are what is recommended for installing Win7:
• 1GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
(UITS recommends: A dual-core (Core 2) processor)
• 1GB of system memory
(UITS recommends: 2GB system memory)
• A graphics processor that is DirectX 9-capable with Hardware Pixel Shader v2.0 and WDDM Driver support
• 128MB of graphics memory
(UITS recommends: 256MB graphics memory; non-integrated video card)
• 40GB of hard drive capacity with 16GB free space
(UITS recommends: 80-100GB capacity)
• DVD-ROM drive
It seems my laptop has met all the requirements. But I am not very hardware pro. Can some kind experts help me check it out to make sure I can install Win 7 on my laptop? What are some things I need to be careful?
Thanks a million!!
