There are a few ways that you can get internet service only. You are able to get Comcast internet only but the price is normally higher than if you have their cable tv service.
DSL proviers like ATT now offers stand alone dsl so you don't need to have their home phone service.
I am not sure if Clear WiMax is in Boston. If they are there, you can get the service as well.
Cable modem normally is faster, dsl is depending how much you pay and how far you are from the central office. WiMax service is depending on if there is a tower in your range.
