32 bits OS only can address upto 4GB RAM.

 

If you want to have 8GB RAM, you have to go with 64bits version, otherwise, the RAM sits there doing nothing. Actually, most of time 4GB is more than enough, unless you run your machine as a database server, or run large CAD type of software.
