請問xeon是不是比個人電腦的CPU性能好？

比如用xeon處理器是不是比個人電腦用的i7-930要性能好（如果其他配置類似）。

我老公平時用電腦run fortran程序，他說要買服務器（就是dell for small and medium business裏麵的電腦），因為服務器貴（他覺得貴的就是好的），我覺得沒必要，難道用i7-930之類還不如一個雙核的xeon嗎？而且for small and medium business的電腦隨便一配都要1300刀。

有經驗的童鞋們不知道能不能給點建議呢？
