now you need to do your homework

every major retailer and manufacturer on the website has comparisons for each system that you can build it up from scratch. however the same system may have different prices due to promotions, and etc.
the speed for internet is mostly on your connection provider's side. for example, cable is much faster than DSL(more expensive of course). there is not much difference from the Harddrive capacity. plus you can always plug in external USB harddrive, which may be a better idea for data back up.
2G memory is good but may not be enough for some graphic intensive ones.
USB port can be extended. so even it has only two ports you can always extend it by plug in a USB hub or something.
it will be nice to have a built-in camera and mic, as you can use skype to talk to china with videos, it is all free as long as both party sign on the skype account (free)
for TV, make sure your TV has compatible connections, the popular one now for laptop is HDMI, the older one is S-video, make sure both laptop and TV has them, any other way is pain in the ass.
