Need help on OS install

Hi, i had a blue error screen and rebooted my machine. Now I can't get into windows in normal or safe mode. I did a scandisk and no errors were found. I'm trying to reinstall windows 98 and XP but i get the following error
"Fault in Ms-dos extender
fault: 000D Stack Dump
036C 0000 0070

Does anyone have any ideas what's going on? I'm stumped.
