To convert old video into digital format, you need hardware first, either a new digtial camcorder which can convert analog video to digital format or a video card that can handle the same job. You will need a software to record the tape onto your hard drive.

Here is how I did it.

Old camcorder to play old tape --> digital camcorder to convert to digital ---> IEEE 1394 on computer ----> Pinnacle to record onto hard drive and edit later. Good luck.
