iTalkBB is a commercial Voice over IP (VoIP) provider serving the North American market. It is the exclusive North American partner of SINA Corporation, the parent company of Sina.com, and serves a USA and Canadian market. Its primary competitor for the U.S. VoIP market is Vonage. Through word of mouth and promotion, its customer base grew rapidly in 2005-2006.

Services

iTalkBB offers several broadband-based service plans with unlimited long distance, both domestic and international, for a flat monthly fee. The most full-featured of these plans is currently a global unlimited calling plan for $24.99 USD per month that includes an international long-distance promotion for users with cell phones.

Some of iTalkBB's services are geared towards Chinese-speaking users in North America. One of these is a phone number that people in China can call to reach the user. The company offers 24/7 Chinese-language service and advertises superior voice quality to China.

Controversy

iTalkBB has been criticized for ineffective service, particularly in North America. Some customers have reported poor quality of service for faxes, and complained of unresponsive technical support and customer service. Account cancellation charges and cumbersome cancellation policies and procedures are among the chief complaints.

ITalkBB was first reported in September, 2006 as a telemarketer that does not obey the US National Do not call Registry. A March, 2007 report notes that the company's salespersons call from outside United States jurisdiction. [1]
