Memory is leaking too much

My office PC, damn COMPAG, always got lower memory when I used POWERPOINT so that I couldn't open the PPT file. Please tell me what the problem is. By the way, my PC condition is as CPU 2.4, 512 RAM, 40 GB hard drive and 64 NOVDIA video card.
