1, if you have external subtitle file, see if the names are same. Also use your player to enable subtitle though most are automatically enabled. If you are still using windows media player, you need to find a vobsub to see .srt or .sub subtitle files. What do you mean by convert to DVD?
2, not sure what you want. If your PC/TV has 15pin VGA input, connect with VGA cable. If your TV has only composite/S-video and your PC doesn't, find a $50 converter. Of course there are plenty of DVD players that can play DivX or XVid, buy one and you are set. I have three such thing, the latest one can accept USB so you will save the earth by not burning disks. The downside is no or little subtitle support. Come on, you don't need subtitles!
