I have done it myself. I was renting out my house. The tenant do not need home phone. But I promise to provide free Internet. So I told AT&T I was selling my house. I was paying only $10 a month for 3 month before i canceled it. What you say does make a difference. I have to admit I am not sure if I can do it again.
