The Vista restore DVD normally has a serial number

The answer is probably NO.

Typically the Vista Premium restore DVD is created by a pre-installed tool. If this tool reads the serial number from BIOS during the creation of restore DVD, it will make the restore DVD unique to that particular laptop. Hence, the restore DVDs are generally not interchangable.

If you can find the Toshiba Vista Premium installation DVD, you can install it on any Toshiba laptop that is Vista ready (BIOS has SLIC for activating Vista).

I recommend using 3rd party video player tools. They are much better anyway. The Media Center in Vista is only so-so.
