a question abour wireless adapter

I have a labtop that doesn't have wireless built-in. The public library in my area provides wireless access using Wi-Fi standard (also known as IEEE 802.11b). If I buy this wireless adapter, can my laptop be accessible to the library wireless network? Thanks a lot!
