It's depending on your applications.

If just for regular web browsing, email reading, playing multimedia content. Quad core is an overkill. If you do really want Quad core, the Phenom 9500 is more than enough.

However, if to play the latest action games, or picture/video editing. Go with Q9450 (or better). You would need high amount of memory too. If for gaming, you need a (or two) high-end video card too.
