I think your internet block has nothing to do with Firefox, you

Try to disable your firewall completely and see if that helps. The firewall can be your Windows, or Norton/McAfee/Kaspersky, anything. If works, then find the policy within your firewall program and delete it, and then re-enable your firewall once again (it's helpful security after all).
