Yesterday when I was trying to re-partition my laptop harddive, I found a dismatch between the info shown in the disk attribute and the calculated file and folder size.
Currently the laptop has only one drive existing (C:). When I right click the C:, view attributes, it shows the capacity of C: is 28 GB, the used space is 22 GB, and the free space is then 6 GB. However, when I select all files and folders (including both hidden or unhidden hidden) under C: root directory, right click and view the properties, it shows the total size is only 16 GB.
Why does the computer show the used space as 22 GB although the total files and folders size is only 16 GB? Any explanations?
lost of 6 GB hard drive space
