Install xp will not change the BIOS settings. It will copy files into the hard drive with boot up files.
Try to hit a couple of times of F2 when you see the message start showing on the screen at start up.
You need to wait for the time out of the SATA detecting if the BIOS cannot find any drives. Sometimes it might take a couple of minuets.
Try connect an IDE drive (if you have any) and setting up the BIOS, then change the SATA back.
The last resort is reset the BIOS but putting the clear CMOS jumper on the main board. Please check the procedures from the main board manual.
