Um, it is still not clear from you what is the question about. If there is a CD drive, can you just start from that and install? W2K, WXP both can boot from CD drive and install. The floppy doesn't matter.

If you only have floppy drive with no CD drive, get somewhere a IDE CD drive and hook it on.

I have P2, P3, P4, Celeron etc. machines, all were installed W2K or XP from CD drive ... My P2 was bought 1998, old enough?
