Screen size tells only part of the story. Wide screen has different resolution settings than regular screen. Usually, you can adjust the resolution to your favorite setting. This is NOT a VISTA problem. If you do not have lots of resolution settings, it may be the problem of video driver. Download and upgrade driver will solve this.
A little tip here. I do quite some digital photo editing. I would not want to see photos out of shape. I find an image of circle from internet and adjust screen resolution to see which one gives perfect circle. Good luck
