If you just want to watch DVD or listen to music, buy the cheapest laptop you can find, usually they have intel celeron processor.

However, I recommend to spend extra $100 more to get a laptop with duo processors. They are much more powerful. Just in case, you want to edit photos. Get a laptop with at least 1 GB memory if it runs Vista.

My laptop is 8 years old, it still does those jobs well.
