How much data space to store a human as bits.

這是同事給我的一封電郵:

Hi M,

On a recent TV show that was looking at the possibility of the technology used in the TV series 'Star Trek' the question was asked, 'Is it possible to break a human down to bits of data for transmission across space', I don't remember the complete answer, but the part I do remember said that the space needed to store the data would require a stack of 100GB hard drives stretching from Earth to the center of the Milky Way galaxy.
