If your 2.5" drive is SATA, you can try to read it from a desktop computer that supports SATA.
If your 2.5" drive is PATA, There are adapters that you can buy to read 2.5" drive on an 40 pin connector in a desktop computer. In case it is your laptop disk controller that is causing problems, this should let you read data from it.
If it is indeed the drive itself, a data recovery company will charge you $800 to read the data for you.
