DV is similar to what we call computer as PC(personal computer). Camcorder is the name of the category, and Handycam is a sub-category of camcorder. DV is really mean Mini-DV camcorder.

But there is another meaning of such naming. In China, they generally mean Digital Video Camera, where DC means Digital Camera.

You can't tell who is wrong. Just don't nibble.
