Help on Hard Drive Problem, Please

My HP notebook computer wouldn't start yesterday after I properly shuted it down. When I pressed the power butter,it makes noise on the left hand side and wouldn't go to the window's screen. It seemed to be the hard drive problem. It's still within the full refund return period. Should I return it or should I have it fixed? It's the deal after Thanksgiving from Costco. $899 for 17 inch Hp.
