I recently bought a compaq laptop that has Broadcomm wireless chip/card. The laptop works fine with my neigbours' wireless network but mine. And I am using verizon DSL. The router is Westell Versalink 327W. After researching on the internet I found that Verizon 327W router's firmware need to be updated. To identify the problem, you might want to connect your pc to others wireless network if possible.
