For beginners, bundled software in Mac OS X are much better than what's in XP (calculator anyone)
For developers, It's easier to write application in Mac OS X. Yes, it was largely derived from NexTStep which was designed to be developer friendly.
Mac and Windows are very different. You wouldn't like the Mac in just few weeks after having spent ten years with Windows.
Mac runs Windows not the other way around ;-)
Mac is cheaper if you buy a workstation-level (Woodcrest 5100 Xeon) computer
Switching is not easy ...
