Pharos hardware is pretty good, but maps suck! I was evaluating PDA based GPS last year, and my friend could find 5-yr old house on the map (it still shows an empty field)! I highly recommand using GPS with Navteq maps (www.navteq.com). It is the supplier of Yahoo Maps and does OEM deals with GPS hardware vendor. With Navteq maps, PDA based GPS can be compared to expensive car based system, on turn-by-turn basis. Navteq based GPS systems usually have an icon with blue letters, like the picture.
