dim question! What is the difference between second hard

drive (local disk D) and local disk C?
2. Can I install application software in local D?
3. How can help the computer after install local D, can it improve the compute speed or just get more storage?
4. To reduce the risk of loosing data, does it help if I have copies in both drives?
