Agree with nuxrl, enabling SSL should help if it's available. Also, are you able to set filters on your mail server so most of your junk mails can be delivered to a junk mail box instead of your inbox? Maybe it's not my business, but if the mail server you're talking about is of your organization you're working for, tell them to get a better server :-).
