many laptops (ie. IBM/lenovo) has a hidden paritition for system backup. If you use other tools,it may damage the hidden parition. Also, there might be something in bios disabling hard drive partition change. You need find out these things first.

If there is a hidden back up partition, you don't need separate existing hard drive into C and D.
