nobody advocates eliminating military spending all together. Equally we should not eliminate social welfare all together.
Right now US has the biggest military budget by far, and the largest percentage of poor population amongst industrial nations. That is why I think the balance should be tilting towards more domestic spendings on things like education, healthcare, and yes, social welfare.
