I am faced with choices:
1. a teaching Bschool in Californa, $100K+
2. a price b school in Beijing, $250K
personal situatation: in US since 98, green card last August
with choice 1, careerwise, it would be hard to advance. I have been on faculty in a midwest research U for 6 years and know myself that I wouldn't like teaching a heavey load. Location is superb.
With choice 2, I have to make big adjustments both in life and in work. I like both work and life simple. So US seems suits me well. Careerwise, 2 is a better choice. Most colleagues are professors returning from US. I guess work politics wouldn't be as bad? living cost is high. i would have to purchase apts if staying for good. It would be hard to keep green card.
While my career goes fairly well, my personal life stays stagnant. Although I consider myself good-looking and attractive, I am still single at age 41. perhaps, this is because I focus too much on career, living in the midwest all these years , or just in my fate. I heard california is more mixed and people are more easy going. Perhaps it would be good as far as my personal life is concerned? How about Beijing in this aspect of my life?
By the way, choice 2 also has an office in NY. the school is planning to offer EMBA program in the future. Could i use this so I can apply for reentry permit multiple times?
Any suggestions and comments are welcome. Thank you in advance.
