I think you should go

since you said you'd regret it if you don't try it.

However, before you go, you need to have a clear goal on what you want to get out of the adventure and for how long. If everything goes well, it is great. If it doesn't go well, you need to set a rule on when to pull the plug and come back, so you don't lose too much.

Personally I think you can accomplish everything you will ever want to try in US with mush less risk, there is no need to go to china for anything. But that's just my opinion.
