I got a 05 subaru outback 2.5i for commute and occasional hauling. It's versatile, reliable. The inconvenience is when you want to change spark plugs (use double platinum plugs and you never need to replace). It has higher under clearance which makes it easy to change oil (if you DIY, no need to jack up the car).
A dreaded problem is it's head gasket. Not sure if they have solved it.
Wheel bearing need to be changed about 90k miles (can DIY, parts is $500max for all four). Timing belt is in the front which makes it easy to replace DIY. CV axle can easily replaced DIY (comparing with Toyotas).
It's AWD but can be converted into 2WD (check Eric the Car Guy videos on Youtube). AWD means you can 得瑟 in snow.
You can fit it with a trailer hitch that can tow boat/bike.
05 model has the nice body of a pretty 豐滿 lady. It's now more like a SUV.
Happy to have another subaru outbacker on this forum.
如果Subaru 解決了 Head gasket.問題,應該是near perfect.
