修理費用

is different because of design. I was at the dealer the other day for an oil change. An Indian guy was there. He bought a CPO 535 a month ago with warranty.

This car died after couple hundred miles. The repair rep told him that his battery needs to be replaced and it's $600+. And it's not covered by his warranty.
This guy almost passed out.

Meanwhile, I just changed battery on my old Lexus. I went to Costco, bought something for $45. And in 10 minutes it's done.

Another example is this whole low profile run flats. They may do well on the Autobahn, but in US states with crappy roads, they blow out and each tire costs over $300.

I'm not saying one should not buy a German car. But a lot of people don't realize they are not just "freude am fahren". They are also a huge profit center supporting the dealers. The business models for German cars and Japanese cars are completely different now.

This is why if you really want them, you should try to lease.
