Well, you added coolant to the wrong place

Do not add to the plastic tank first, that is call recovery reservior.  When engine is completely cooled, open the radiator cap and add coolant (50:50), top off, turn on engine for a while until the themostat opens, top off.  Then close the cap and add collant to the min line into the plastic tank.
