The truck, 2010 Chevy Tahoe, LT, 4X4, 5.3L, 320 Hp, loaded.
Why a Tahoe, living in the center of snow belt, average snow fall around 70" annually, we were looking for a family car that can sit up to 5 (or 8, when friends are visiting), and have to be 4X4. My job requires 20% travelling, and I have driven quite a lot of cars and trucks, and the best of all, Enterprise gives me automatic upgrade every time I rent with them, and Tahoe is always my first choice. Every time after driving a Tahoe for several days, I just feel my Taurus is getting smaller.
Safety first, this Tahoe comes with all the safety features like, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Row Head Airbags, Passenger Airbag, Side Airbag, ABS And Driveline Traction Control, Stability Control With Anti-Roll Control, standarded, and when you sit higher, you can see farther than most other cars, and this is very important for judging the situation ahead.
Smooth ride, it is just comfortable sitting in and driving a Tahoe, the ride is smooth and quite. It is a 6ton SUV, but you can not believe the response from the gas padel until you step on it. Like my five-year old son said "Make the engine roar and pass that car, Daddy." We had severl snow storms duriong the last winter, and when you see a foot of snow on the road and the snow plow has not arrived, you just switch from 4X2 to 4X4 and drive in that 1 foot of snow as usual, then you will see cars following the track you left behind, but when there is a hill ahead, those cars can't follow you any more, because they will stuck.
Gas milage, I drove about 10,000 miles in the last 12 months, the average is 18.5mpg, roughly 16 in town and 21 on highway. It is acceptable for a 6ton SUV.
Overall, I never regreted getting this truck, the third row seat won't fold flat, so I just took them out, and you can still sit five people comfortably and have a huge cargo room. When we came back from China in May, we had 4 full size luggages, two backpacks. At the airport parking lot, after the shuttle bus driver put all these in the back of the truck, "Man, you bring the right car for the job." He said.
I strongly recommend Tahoe to those who need 4X4 capability and need to sit 5 or more people in one car.
