Most of reviews from PRO magazines say that Forest is better. Subaru is better than CR-V in most of aspects(size, performance, and even handling), except Honda name is more popular. Forest is also a popularone (the most popular model among all Subarus). Since most of CR-V parts are shared with Civic(some may be Accord), the availability of parts is higher(more 3rd parties and OEM will make Honda parts). This makes the repair cost lower when the vehicle is old, and resale value is higher(because lower cost to repair).
If you are going to keep the vehicle for a while(8-10 years), I would say go with Forest. CR-V is just too under powered.
